The Challenge
Natti had a Squarespace site already set up, but it wasn’t working as well as it could. Some pages felt cluttered, images weren’t displaying in the best way, and the shop layout didn’t reflect the quality of his work. He was feeling frustrated because it was challenging to get the site to look the way he wanted it to. There were also little things, like the default favicon, minimal footer and layout quirks that made the site feel unfinished.
He came with a clear list of updates. He wanted the site to feel more professional and showcase his work in a clean, thoughtful way. The goal was to turn the site into a simple, well-designed platform to use as a calling card for galleries, and to sell prints and books directly.
My Approach
Rather than starting from scratch, we worked together to revamp the existing Squarespace site.
Every change was made to support the photography and simplify the experience.
Key updates included:
Reorganised the portfolio and renamed ‘Projects’ to ‘Portfolio’
Reduced font sizes and added more white space for a calmer layout
Moved project titles below the images
Updated the shop so images are sized consistently and clearer
Added a custom favicon and a simple lens-style black dot cursor
Fixed mobile formatting and made everything easier to navigate on phones
Cleaned up the footer for a more professional, SEO-friendly setup
Added a new ‘Mississippi Delta’ project and tweaked navigation
Tidied pages and galleries to remove visual clutter
Made backend tweaks so Natti can update the site himself if needed
The Outcome
Natti was happy with the updates and even offered to pay the final invoice before the work was finished, a lovely show of trust. He now has a site that reflects the depth and quality of his photography and gives people a smooth experience whether they’re browsing or buying.
“I am very happy with your work Sarah, Thank you.”
